Help A Hero at Sport Clips

Right now
Sport Clips on US 31 & Worthsville Rd in Greenwood is doing a promotion called Help A Hero where they raise funds to help members of the military who are stationed over seas call home for free during the holidays and all year long.  They are taking donations, raffling off a prize basket  for $10.00 per entry or 3 entries for $20.00.

On Sunday, November 13 from 5:30-7:30 they are reopening their doors to do free services for a minimum donation of $10.00 to Help A Hero.  they are trying to raise as much as they can for this great cause!  There are many military families in the area who know the importance of being able to talk to their loved ones while they are over seas.  Thank you in advance for anything you are able to do to help us.

Jake and Travis Arms of Life Fund

The purpose of the Jake and Travis Arms of Life Fund is to honor the lives of Jake and Travis Findley and insure that another tragic accident like this does not happen to our community again. Jake and Travis lost their lives on February 3, 2007 when the SUV they were riding in collided with a train on Stones Crossing Road. This crossing does not have cross arms or flashing lights to warn drivers of oncoming trains.

The goal of our fundraising effort is to add flashing lights and cross arms to the railroad crossings at Stones Crossing Road, Whiteland Road, Smokey Row and Olive Branch. This will help protect the hundreds of school buses, thousands of school children and our community in general who use these railroad crossings every day.

The Family Success Initiative

The Family Success Initiative, with help from the Hawthorne Community Center, is teaming together to raise money to purchase one or more bullet proof vests for Indiana's K-9 Police Dogs.  This special project began because of a loving 12 year old girl, Brittany Siegman.  Brittany's heartbreak over seeing a K-9 police dog killed in the line of duty, leading to her desire to raise money for K-9 body armor vests.  Her excitement rubbed off and she soon got her family to help her with the involvement.  Then, members of Family Success program and Maplewood Elementary School began raising funds.  Each K-9 body armor vests cost $650.  Brittany is still a ways from her goal, but with your help, she could soon reach her goal of donating at least one vest to Indiana's Police Dogs.  For donations, please make your check to : Elite -K-9 to:

Brittany will place her armor vest order as soon as she has raised enough to help out at least on of these brave K-9's.  Any questions or comments, please call Amanda at 317.637.4312 ext. 14.
